Awhile back, one of my friends was visiting from Boston and she freaked out as we were heading out to dinner. I had just twisted my hair up into a loose bun almost subconsciously, and she demanded to know why I had been holding out and hadn't introduced her to the crazy hairpins I was using. Meet the Goody Spin Pins.
Let's back up a bit. I have a lot of hair. Like, a ton of hair. Having super thick hair has always been one of my beauty realities, something that every hair stylist commented on as far back as middle school. Trust me, I'm not complaining, although it took awhile for me to learn how to work with it.
The magic of the Goody Spin Pins is that two of these corkscrew pins hold all of my hair securely, all day. I don't need any other pins or hair ties, although I do sometimes put my hair into a ponytail just to shape the style. A set costs around $7, and I probably use them at least twice a week. This is definitely the hardest working and most cost effective item in my beauty arsenal. Spin Pins wear so comfortably that I've occasionally slept with them in without realizing it, although I don't actually recommend that for the sake of your hair! They come in a range of colors and there's a mini version, which might work well if the full size is overkill based on your hair type.
Two pins. That's it. See? Magic.
The shape always reminds me of learning about the DNA double helix in high school. Have I mentioned that I'm kind of a nerd?
