Having celebrated our wedding last weekend, we are off on our honeymoon for some much anticipated rest and relaxation. Just like I obsessed over our engagement photo outfits, I put a lot of thought into how to pack for our tropical getaway and found this post incredibly helpful. My goal was a relaxed, feminine vacation wardrobe and my inspiration includes lots of stripes (hehe), versatile and beachy basics, plus some bold color. If you want to see some of these pieces in action (or are just curious where in the world we ended up) you can follow along on Instagram.
Mara Hoffman Maxi Dress - Mara Hoffman does the best graphic prints. I fell in love with this dress on my bachelorette weekend and it will make an encore appearance for the honeymoon (but is now largely sold out). Never fear, because this striped maxi has a similarly breezy feel with muted colors. It's perfect for a resort setting and the plunge neckline is sexy.
Eugenia Kim Straw Hat (on sale) - A classic wide-brim fedora with a subtle tonal detail and the sweetest grosgrain bow. I also love this option from Eugenia Kim, which is likewise on sale. My honeymoon shopping turns out to be well timed for end-of-summer sale season.
Ancient Greek Sandals - I knew that I wanted a pair of well-made Capri-style sandals in a neutral leather to pair with everything, and that I preferred slides rather than thongs. For Ancient Greek, I recommend sizing up and I also love this option (although it's available in more limited sizes).
J.Crew Striped Tank Dress (on sale) - A casual striped tank or t-shirt dress was also high on my list since it can go over a swimsuit during the day or be dressed up at night. It epitomizes the carefree vacation spirit that I want my wardrobe to reflect.
J.Crew Embroidered Straw Clutch (on sale) - I had been looking for a straw clutch with an abstract print but hadn't quite found the right one when I stumbled across this clutch in store. I thought about it for weeks, and went it went on sale I knew I had to pull the trigger.
Melissa Odabash Bikini - I love the robins egg blue color (a longtime favorite of mine) and the classic scalloped bandeau shape of the top.
Westward Leaning Sunglasses - I had a pair of aviators with tortoiseshell frames for years that I adored. They eventually bit the dust and I've been searching for a replacement for years. I think I've finally found it.
Rag & Bone Shorts (on sale) - A pair of denim cutoffs is perfect for throwing on over bikinis and therefore absolutely essential for me on any beach vacation.
Athleta Rash Guard - I am looking forward to lots of water sports on our honeymoon (if you need me, odds are I'll be on a stand-up paddle board), and I'm serious about sun protection. You already know this if you've been reading along for awhile. My solution is this Athleta rash guard with built-in sun protection, which I own in a brighter blue from a prior season and took on our trip to Hawaii. It's lightweight and dries quickly, and you can bet it has a spot in my bag again.
Frame Maxi Dress - Tropical locales always call for bold colors in my book, and this crinkled silk maxi dress delivers a strong punchy color. It feels glamorous but still relaxed enough to wear at the beach.
Mara Hoffman Bikini - These prints are just as great on swimwear as they are on the maxi dresses. I love them so, so much. Plus, this cut is super flattering on both top and bottom.
