It's a full on heatwave in NYC this week. I've mentioned previously that city living impacts how I dress, since our urban walking lifestyle forces you into the elements to get around. As a result, shoes have to be practical (well, sometimes), coats have to keep you warm and dry in winter, and you have to take into account the occasionally oppressive summer heat. This outfit is my answer to heatwave dressing for a dinner out.
The breezy white top and shorts are cool and comfortable, and the light pink linen blazer (last seen here) wards off the air conditioned chill once arriving at dinner. The other side of the unbearable heat is that plenty of places crank A/C, which easily gets too intense and leaves me shivering. This linen blazer is my perfect layering piece, and I've started grabbing it whenever I travel. It's comfy, looks pulled together, and is the ideal weight, making it just the thing for plane rides as well as summer nights on the town.
