My preferred makeup look is very understated. As much as I love experimenting with makeup (and I'm admittedly a total product junkie), I gravitate towards a classic, barely made up look and don't often dive into dramatic makeup trends. Over time I've perfected my everyday eye makeup look using all non-toxic makeup lines, which is a priority for all my beauty and skincare products.
If you see me during the day, whether at work, out to brunch, or at an afternoon shower, odds are good that this is exactly the eye makeup I'll be wearing. I start with RMS "Un" Cover-up as an eyeshadow primer and on the inner corners of my eye, which makes me look instantly more awake. I use one shade lighter than my usual RMS concealer for this purpose (I wear shade 22 on my face and shade 11 here). I apply with my finger, unless I'm feeling ambitious in which case I'll break out this brush for the inner corner and lower lash line.
I don't know what I did before I discovered Beautycounter's Eye Duos. I'm wearing Slipper/Slate here, and I also love (and frequently wear) the Oyster/Amethyst color combo. Their mini tutorial (it's less than a minute) helps make application fool proof. I recently bought their all-over eye and crease brushes (when I upgraded my cosmetics bags) and they have totally been game changers. I finish off with Ilia Beauty's mascara in Asphalt Jungle, which suits my complexion better than black (especially for daytime looks) and is aptly named for my life in NYC. I lightly smudge W3LL People's Hypnotist eyeliner in between my lashes and I'm ready to go.
Applying RMS "Un" Cover-up with my ring finger (it's the weakest digit, and therefore tugs less on the delicate skin around the eye)
Gently tap, tap, tap and blend
The base color sweeps on
Final product, with crease shadow and eyeliner (smudged into the lash line, natch)
Ta-da! Eyes are subtly emphasized, but you hardly see the make up
