It sounds like an oxymoron to spend an afternoon on the beach this time of year, doesn't it? And yet this past weekend brought a warm front that was like one last, glorious gasp before November, the holidays, and winter overtake the East Coast. We took full advantage of the mild weather with a day trip to visit my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew in Connecticut. In the off season, dogs (including their adorable pup, who makes a guest appearance below) are allowed to frolic on the beach and it is pure joy to watch.
I used our afternoon beach walk to break in a new pair of Bean Boots (because it was NOT warm enough to contemplate dipping my toes in the water). I also wore the softest, comfiest plaid shirt by the Rails. I spent three years (not kidding) looking for the right plaid shirt, and this is the result of my obsessive hunt. I love that it's slightly oversized, drapes nicely, and is perfectly suited to a slightly windy, unseasonably mild, delightfully unexpected fall day at the beach.
