I get a lot of wear out of my boots because they're practical for city living and add serious style to any outfit. Boots are definitely a large purchase, and I'm very particular about the details. I always keep in mind that I'll wear them for years and years, and as a result it can take me quite a while to find the perfect pair. I want them to be true to my style, and classic enough to work season after season.
I have to confess that I spent nearly three years looking for a pair of flat, black leather riding riding boots before finding the Tory Burch pair that I currently own. I gritted it out without them (although I knew they would fill a definite hole in my wardrobe) until I found a pair that was just right for me.
I've learned to time my purchase for late December/January, when boots go on major sale. I've bought every pair I own (with one exception) this time of year. I've heard that the day after Christmas at Saks is a bonanza for discounted designer boots, but I haven't yet tried it myself (because I can't be easily coaxed out of the house for competitive shopping during the holidays). I've rounded up a few options (all on sale) that are similar to the three styles which I acquired over many years and wear most often.
