I have been smitten with Madewell's buffalo check plaid cape scarf (last seen here) all winter. I wore it for an entire weekend (seriously) immediately after purchasing it, and it continues to make me smile each time I put it on. I'm always looking for new ways to style this scarf. I came across this outfit on Instagram, which showcases a similar scarf (also by Madewell, and also on sale) was fabulous inspiration for me. I had all the key elements to recreate it already in my closet: red and black buffalo check scarf, chambray shirt, black skinny jeans, another pop of red for the handbag, and booties. I put my own subtle twist on this ensemble with jeans rather than black leather leggings (which I haven't experimented with yet) and switching to lighter shoes for a bit more contrast. I'll continue mixing this scarf into my wardrobe whenever possible. And I just might wear it around the house in the meantime.
p.s. no bloggers were harmed in the making of this post. Until just this week, it's been unseasonably not-wintery in NYC. And I have been taking full advantage for the sake of a few outfit posts.
