I love a crisp, refreshing cocktail, and I gravitate towards drinks that aren't overly sweet. It's been warm in NYC this week (and almost unseasonably muggy) so we wanted a drink to beat the heat (and toast the arrival of fall).
I really wish that I liked negronis (they seem so utterly sophisticated) but I've tried them repeatedly and find campari too bitter for my taste. I was thrilled to discover that aperol provides a similar distinctive herbal flavor plus bright citrus notes, but without the bitterness of campari. I also love any cocktail made with sparkling wine, so the aperol spritz is a definite winner in my book!
