So many things about winter and the holiday season make me happy to verging on giddy, and plaid is high on that list. (As you've previously seen evidence of here.) I just learned about the Danish concept of "hygge" recently (I'm late to this party, I know!) and it really resonates with me. It's made me realize that my adoration of plaid plays into the search for everything comfy, cozy, heartwarming and deliciously spiced to brighten and add cheer to a season that is sometimes cold and dark. For me, plaids, chunky knit textures, and steaming to-go cups of cider capture those feelings outside of my home and carry them throughout my day.
In that spirit, I wore Madewell's cape scarf in red and black buffalo check plaid to our friends' annual holiday juice party last weekend (and yes, that event is absolutely as fun as it sounds!). This scarf/cape combo is seriously genius. I loved wearing it as a statement piece, paired with understated basics (black cashmere sweater, indigo skinny jeans, and polished black flats) and a nude lip (Ilia Beauty's Nobody's Baby, which is essentially my signature color). This soft lambswool plaid wonder also functions beautifully as a classic scarf too. Stay warm and cozy, friends!
The curls, in all their glory. I have no idea when my hair got so long!
