I was excited to come across giant bunches of eucalyptus at the farmers market recently. I find the scent to be incredibly relaxing and also love the wild, rustic forms that eucalyptus naturally creates. An enormous armful of eucalyptus cost only me $7, and provided enough greenery to be used throughout my apartment.
I cut a few sprigs to hang in the shower (which creates an aromatic steam shower) and still had plenty of stems to create two abundant bouquets. If you're looking for a subtle way to add eucalyptus to your holiday decor, this wreath is a great option.
Prune leaves off 3-4 inches from the base of the trimmed stem. Bind with a rubber band, leaving some slack so that you can slip the bundle over the shower head.
Remove any leaves that will be below the water line, and snip the stem immediately before placing into lukewarm water. A good friend turned me onto Joyce Chen shears for working with floral arrangements, and I've never looked back. Be careful - they are super sharp!
One bouquet graces the entry while the other livens up the entertainment center. Eucalyptus branches cascade beautifully, adding instant drama.
